The ICT Authority has partnered with the Kenya Network Information Center (KeNIC) to enhance the adoption of ICT standards and promote the use of .ke domains.

The partnership, which spans three years, seeks to facilitate knowledge and skills transfer as Kenya continues its digital transformation journey.

The collaboration comes at a crucial time as both organizations are committed to fostering public trust in government digital initiatives.

The partnership also seeks to create a digitally transformed environment that benefits all Kenyans.

A key aspect of the MoU mandates KeNIC to raise awareness about the importance and advantages of utilizing .go.ke email addresses and domains.

In turn, the ICT Authority will promote the adoption of these email addresses within Government Ministries and State Corporations, encouraging greater compliance and uptake.

During the signing ceremony, ICT Authority CEO Stanley Kamanguya highlighted the necessity of establishing a secure online environment amidst the rapid growth of digital development.

“This MoU will help us address strategic issues we face in this era of digital transformation. Our focus will be on skilling and reskilling our staff while addressing digital governance challenges. We believe that collaborating with KeNIC will help us achieve these goals,” said Kamanguya.

He further emphasized the importance of security in domain registration, stating that they are carefully considering the security aspects and will work together to ensure these domains are secure, enabling businesses to confidently register under the .ke domain.

“This collaboration will support not only government institutions but also the private sector.”

Andrew Lewela, CEO of KeNIC, echoed Kamanguya’s sentiments, stating that the partnership marks the beginning of delivering greater value to citizens.

The government’s digital agenda is opening doors for more entrepreneurs through initiatives like public WiFi.

As part of the agreement, KeNIC will also provide technical training for ICT Authority staff on the Domain Name System (DNS) ecosystem and Domain Name System Security (DNSSEC).

The partnership aims to enhance digital skills and literacy among public sector employees and citizens through joint training programs and awareness campaigns.

KeNIC is responsible for managing .KE domains on behalf of all Kenyans, working diligently to build a trusted internet for the nation. The primary domain extensions include .co.ke, .or.ke, .ne.ke, .go.ke, .me.ke, .mobi.ke, .info.ke, .sc.ke, and .ac.ke. Solana Token Creator
